You’ll love how easy it is to travel to Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh is located within 500 miles of nearly half the U.S. population, and Pittsburgh International Airport offers 125 daily nonstop flights.
Pittsburgh is easily accessible by domestic and international flights through Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) . With nonstop flights from over 50 destinations on multiple carriers, travel is easy and direct.
From the Airport
Pittsburgh Regional Transit offers public transit service to and from Pittsburgh International Airport via the 28X Airport Flyover. The 28X route services the airport, Robinson Towne Center, Downtown Pittsburgh, and Oakland seven days a week and depart the airport approximately every 30 minutes. The transit bus leaves from outside Door 2 on the first floor of the Landslide Terminal. Exact change is required if paying cash and credit cards are not accepted. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket vending machine at Baggage Claim, inside Door #2, and credit cards can be used.
Cabs – can be hired outside the arrivals area of the airport
Lyft and Uber – download the apps and meet the driver outside the Baggage Claim Door #4 at the Commercial Arrivals Curb.
Limousine service – a variety of limousine and charter transportation companies are available with advance booking. Please see the full list of approved suppliers by clicking here.
Hotel Shuttle buses – If you are not staying at The Westin Pittsburgh, there are a variety of hotels that offer complimentary shuttle bus service from the airport. It is best to check with your preferred hotel directly to ensure the service is still operational and available on your travel dates.
Getting Around

The Westin Pittsburgh is a short walk from other core downtown locations, restaurants, and activities. The Downtown Pittsburgh area is a compact area bordered by Grant Street to the east, Penn Avenue to the north, and the Boulevard of Allies to the south. You’re never more than a few blocks to your destination, and downtown is easy to walk.
If you are looking for other ways around the city, a variety of options are available.
Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) – PRT is the public transit agency for the greater Pittsburgh area, providing bus, light rail, incline and paratransit services. PRT fare is $2.75 for unlimited rides within a three hour period. Exact change is required when paying cash.
Taxis – An abundance of taxis can be found in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas to get you between destinations but in such a walkable city, the need is not great!
Lyft and Uber – Ride sharing is available throughout Pittsburgh
Bike – Take to two wheels to explore Pittsburgh! Bike Pittsburgh has a variety of resources to make your trek enjoyable and worry free. Bike rental options and bike share programs are both available in Pittsburgh to make getting around easy.

While visas are not currently required some nationalities, visitors are required to have a valid passport. Pittsburgh has a moderate climate, with cool, wet winters that bring rain but little snow.
It’s always good to pack layers for a trip to Portland. Bring a light, waterproof jacket and sturdy, comfortable shoes. In winter, throw in some warmer layers, and pack warm sweaters, hats and gloves.
The United States of America uses USD, which is divided into 100 cents. There are $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 dollar bills. There are 5, 10, and 25 cent pieces in smaller coins. Banking and credit cards are welcome almost everywhere.
Standard tipping includes 15% – 20% for servers at restaurants, $1-$2 for hotel bellmen and airport porters per bag, $2 for hotel housekeeping per night, $2 for parking valets, $1-$2 per drink for bartenders, 10% of the taxi fare.

The United States operates on a 120V supply voltage and 60Hz. The power sockets accept both Type A and Type B plugs. Non-North American visitors should bring a plug adapter if they wish to use their own small appliances from home (razors, hair dryers, laptops, etc.).
Under Pittsburgh, PA law smoking is not permitted in all public places, which includes enclosed workspaces, commercial establishments, and in sporting facilities.
