Assistant Professor, Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Stanford University is seeking applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor position, with a research focus on a{ective science. The Stanford Psychology Department values transparency and openness in science and encourages candidates to provide in their research statement a description of how these values are reflected in their work to date and their future research plans. Applicants should describe in their statement their philosophy and preparation to teach courses and mentor students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Stanford Psychology Department values faculty who are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion; candidates may include as part of their statement a brief discussion of how their work will further these ideals.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Candidates should apply through Stanford Faculty Positions and submit

  • a cover letter
  • curriculum vitae (including a bibliography/publication list)
  • a brief statement of research interests and teaching philosophy (no more than three single-spaced pages)
  • copies of at most three scholarly papers, and
  • three letters of reference

Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2024; later applications may be considered at the discretion of the search committee. The term of appointment will begin on September 1, 2025.

The salary range for this position is $125,000 – $135,000, for academic year 2024–25.

Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay o{ered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the qualifications of the selected candidate, budget availability, and internal equity.
