Shannon Brady

Shannon Brady

Post-doc trainee, Rutgers University – Newark

Shannon M. Brady is a postdoctoral associate at Rutgers University–Newark working with Vanessa LoBue. Her research examines the emotional information children are exposed to, how they distill this input into meaningful concepts, and how these concepts shape emotional behavior. She is also deeply committed to science communication and enjoys translating complex ideas into accessible formats—much like this design competition, which offered an opportunity to translate the mission and values of SAS into a visual identity.

This design was inspired by Pittsburgh’s bright yellow Three Sisters suspension bridges. Much like how the bridges are named after Andy Warhol (an artist), Roberto Clemente (an athlete), and Rachel Carson (a conservationist) to  symbolize the city’s connection to art, sports, and nature, this design symbolizes the connections that span across the SAS community–between members from various career stages, across different countries, and who work in different areas of affective science.”

Michaela Glinsky

Postbac Research Assistant, University of Pittsburgh

Michaela is a post-baccalaureate research assistant at the University of Pittsburgh working with Drs. Stephanie Stepp, Amy Byrd, and Salome Vanwoerden. Her research interests focus on interpersonal processes underlying psychological distress, with emphasis on language and ambulatory methods.

This design highlights a range of emotions as the skyline at Point State Park. The multiple faces also evoke a sense of community, like the collaborative collection of researchers in SAS.”

Madeline SanMarco

Madeline SanMarco

Postbac Research Assistant, Yale University

Maddie is a recent graduate of Tulane University, where she studied psychology and studio art. She is currently working at Yale University as a post-graduate researcher. Her work centers on emotion granularity, affective interpretation, and individual differences.

Inspired by the idea that we do not exist in a vacuum. Our thoughts, emotions, values, personalities, and relationships are influenced by each other and the environment.”
